More flights to Jamaica from Virgin Atlantic
Jamaican holidays from the UK could soon be easier, following new flights announced by Virgin Atlantic.
Services will begin twice a week between Gatwick and Kingston at the end of October, making it perfect for autumn beach holidays for sun-starved Britons.
The new flights will double Virgin's capacity between London and the Caribbean nation, providing 190,000 seats a year, and Kingston will be the airline's eighth destination in the group of islands.
Steve Ridgway, chief executive officer of Virgin Atlantic, commented: "All of us at Virgin Atlantic are excited about strengthening the relationship with Air Jamaica so that we can offer an expanded service to this beautiful country.
"We already have a big commitment to the Caribbean and have a strong relationship with the local people and the tourist industry, which will benefit enormously from our expansion."
A larger network of connections is planned between Jamaica and the company's three UK airports, Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester, he added.
Jamaica is the most populous English-speaking island, known for providing tropical holidays for tourists from around the globe.
Most of the island has hot and humid weather during the majority of the year.
